OK, so let me be the first to admit that I do not understand what Social Spark is or what kind of value/fun/whatever it's supposed to bring to its' users. That's my disclaimer.
See, I've been to the site several times...was even in on the beta. Still don't get it.
I assume that the idea is to launch a shiny new site (albeit a bit Las Vegasy) that wears a "social" label and hope that a universal adoption occurs within Pay-Per-Post's current user base. But why not just do that at Pay-Per-Post?
And for Advertisers, the ones who make this work, what's in it for them? Sure, you get to "hand pick" your bloggers...but can't you do that everywhere?? (ahem...) Umm..yeah, you can. And these are all fully-disclosed and "search engine compliant" which leads me to believe that all linkage is no-followed. Great. Oh wait....no, that sucks!
I think Ted is a really sharp guy and has done some great things but this I just don't get. Why not release PPP v2 or something?
We'll see if social spark turns into social sputter or not. I can't help but be amused by the whole social-bandwagoning that's going on with this. Do Advertisers really give a shit about mingling with bloggers? My experience tells me "no." They want their links. Followed.

I have a bazillion blogs to choose from... So, if i am going to comment there has to be a good reason for me to 1) read the blog 2) take the time to post a comment.
Here are reasons why i comment:
1) I really really like the topic and am passionate about one side of it or the other.
2) The blog has dofollow links on comments that will help boost my site relevancy/popularity
3) The blog is high-traffic and my comment will be seen by a bunch of people, which should bring some traffic into my own site.
If your blog meets any one or all of these criteria, i'm there.
So, basically, if your topic doesn't interest me, you nofollow your comment links and you have very little traffic/authority/visibility, i am not going to comment.
I think one method of getting active users and comments to a blog is to open up the links and dofollow them. This will bring people in like crazy. They'll be subscribing to your feeds and coming back for!
Reason I am commenting here: I like your blog and am glad you're back!

HAAA!! MegaD....you're awesome. And since the last post on this ghost-town-of-a-blog was my coming to terms with the Cowboys post-season exit, I'm sorry for the delay.
I post other places under other pen names and this blog (which always has sucked and probably always will) just takes a back seat to everything else these days. But it is nice to have an industry-related outlet that doesn't have to be associated with my full-time employer.
